Raytheon presents 3rd annual Air Traffic Controller of the Year award

Matthew Tucker recognized for commitment to safety and continuous improvement

TEWKSBURY, Mass., March 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) announced today that Matthew (Matt) Tucker has been awarded the 3rd annual Raytheon Air Traffic Controller of the Year award. The award was presented at the annual "Communicating for Safety" conference organized by the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA).

Tucker has served as an Air Traffic Controller at the FAA's Atlanta Air Route Traffic Control Center for more than 15 years. In addition to his longstanding commitment to safety in the national air space, he has been a strong advocate on behalf of the NATCA membership for continual improvement and incorporation of enhanced weather data into controller operations.

"Matt exemplifies the hard work, dedication and commitment of the air traffic controller profession," said Michael Espinola, managing director, Raytheon Air Traffic Systems. "He brings his best to his job, and goes above and beyond by taking an active role to improve the technology and systems utilized by air traffic controllers around the country."

The ability for controllers to maintain safety and improve operations when faced with inclement weather has been a major focus of Tucker's efforts within the industry. He served as the NATCA Weather Liaison from 2002 – 2004 and continues to advocate for the introduction of enhanced weather predictability and information systems into air traffic management operations.

In conjunction with the award, Raytheon is making a donation to the NATCA Charitable Foundation in Matt Tucker's name. "Tucker has been a long-time supporter of the NATCA Charitable Foundation and we are honored to be able to support this cause on his behalf," said Espinola.
